What's the best way to cut my lawn?

1) Choose the proper lawn mower for the type of grass that you have. As an example, a

rotary mower is better for taller, softer grasses and a reel mower is better

on wiry, shorter grasses. Ask a lawn expert what type of grass you have

if you don't know.

2) Set your mower blade heights to the proper height based on your grass type.

3) Mow your lawn when it is about a 1/3rd higher than the recommended "normal" height.

4) Unless your lawn is particularly high, you may want to leave your clippings on the grass.

They will contribute organic matter and nutrients as they break down

5) As a side note, Clint and Sandee own a Toro lawnmower and it is great. We have had

it for over 15 years, and it still starts after the first pull or two. We DON'T own

stock in the company, but appreciate a well made product.

6) Our lawn mower is a recycler. This means that it does not have a bag. Instead, as we

mentioned in step four, the grass is recycled and put back into the soil as

fertilizer. This is really nice because it's good for the environment, saves

us money on fertilizer and stops us from having to schlep bags of grass

clippings around.
