How to seal a garage floor....and why you should.
Sealing a garage floor helps protect it against road salts, eliminates
concrete dust and makes it easier to sweep. Plus, it helps prevent stains.
Steps to sealing the floor..
1) Use a hose to scrub the floor with commercial grade concrete
cleaner and degreaser. Use goggles to protect your eyes, work
gloves to protect your hands and wear old clothes.
2) In stained areas, let the cleaner soak into the concrete for up to
30 minutes. Repeat the application for especially stubborn stains.
3) When the floor is dry, put the sealer in a large paint tray. Use a
brush to roll in the perimeter, and then roll the rest with
a medium nap paint roller.
4) Work your way out of the garage, applying the sealer generously,
while smoothing out puddles.
5) Sealers will stain surfaces, so be careful not to splash it on
drywall, painted surfaces, furniture, etc.
6) Clean up all of your tools with warm, soapy water.
7) Allow the sealer to dry.
