Selling Your Home In The Winter
Start by freshening up your yard (both front and back). Every few days, pick up stray
branches, twigs and loose debris that may blow into your yard. This gives your
home better curb appeal and lets buyers know that you take good care of
your home.
If you have dogs, like we do, make sure that you regularly clean up their, uh, "poop"!
You don't want perspective buyers stepping in any little "packages" that may be
left in your yard.
Snow can be a blessing and a curse. If everything is covered, your yard can look like
a winter wonderland. On the other hand, when the snow starts melting, you may
want to cut back your perennial stalks and pick up any dead leaves from
your garden.
Other Tips
Keep your walkways clear of ice, pine needles and old grass clippings.
Salt/de-ice walkways wherever necessary.
Keep your driveway, entry and front sidewalk shoveled at all times.
Remove Christmas lights (and other holiday stuff) after the holiday is over.
Make sure that all exterior house lights are working, because it gets dark so early.
Prune away any dead or overhanging branches.
Make sure that buyers know where you have planted perennial bulbs.
Have booties by your front door, so people don't track snow & dirt into your home.
Keep your home comfortably warm.
If you have a fireplace, keep it lit whenever people are looking at your home.
